Kurahi Catch-All: Unspoken Thing
Unspoken Thing
The hardest thing about life is
when the person who gave you the most memories
becomes a memory.
when the person who gave you the most memories
becomes a memory.
how odd it is
to be
by someone that is still alive

“The purpose of learning to do something the right way is so that you won't do it wrong. Regardless, I was just joking. You don't truly believe I expect to live to see the day you start washing sheets, do you?” That sounds too human for his tastes, even if plenty of demons also live with certain modern luxuries these days. Hiei had always been content to sleep in trees, and as far as Kurama sees it, probably considers it to be doing the fox a favor that he sleeps in his bed at all, when he does stay with him.

"I'm glad you remain pragmatic." Hiei responds, the sarcasm in his voice evident. He absolutely could learn to wash sheets, though he doesn't really see the point in doing so. With how much bluster he still has about not being in the human world often, the point of doing such a thing or learning how does not fall among things that Hiei finds sensible.
Still.. if Kurama insisted, he would (probably) begrudgingly learn to do the chore for them both. After all, even Hiei can appreciate the benefits of a bed with nice, fresh sheets on it. Kurama is spoiling him for living in the wild ever again.
"You've lived long enough to see a lot of improbable things. What's one more?" Because Hiei does, still, fully expect that Kurama will accompany him for a few more hundred years despite what the fox has said that may bring that belief in to question.

“Careful, Hiei. That almost sounds like an invitation.” The fox is, of course, thinking in those terms. Another 40 years or so hardly sounded like enough time to see the fire apparition change enough to agree to household chores in a home he never asked for to begin with. The fox didn't exactly expect to share any of the work, that felt far too much like trying to box Hiei into a dynamic he didn't agree to. It seemed like asking for a fight to even suggest it in all seriousness, bad enough that he has to come to the human world to spend any time with the redhead as it is.

Hiei is deep in to finishing his rice at this point - still stuffing it in to his mouth as though Kurama may steal it. He never has, but old habits die hard. At the very least the fire demon has slowly edged off of attempting to body block anyone else from whatever he has over time. While in the human world, anyway.
Red eyes do turn to focus in on Kurama as he cautions him on his “invitation,” brows pressing in and down, suggesting the scowl that would be there if he wasn’t chewing on a large chunk of rice and egg.
“What the hell do you mean?” Yes, there’s probably rice flying out of his mouth as he talks. No, he isn’t worried about it right that moment.
“You actually want me to do laundry?”

“You're the one who seemed offended when I said that I don't, actually.”

"Tch." Hiei dismisses Kurama's accusation with a little noise of disapproval, beginning to use his chopsticks to gather the remaining rice in his bowl to shovel it to his mouth. The fire demon never leaves a morsel of anything on his plate, whether it is an effortful meal or something simple.
Kurama is not wrong, of course. Hiei would not normally look at a chore like laundry as something that he needed to do or participate in, even though he contributed some to the loads of laundry that happened here. Usually with muddy or bloody clothes when he came back from the demon world.
The fire demon places his bowl back down on the tray Kurama had brought it on once he was sure he'd collected every grain of rice, now determined to watch Kurama use the laundry machines and see how they worked.
"You act like I can't figure these things out, if I want to."
