Kurahi Catch-All: Unspoken Thing
Unspoken Thing
The hardest thing about life is
when the person who gave you the most memories
becomes a memory.
when the person who gave you the most memories
becomes a memory.
how odd it is
to be
by someone that is still alive

Reluctant Romance
Hiei's apparent pain from whatever he'd dealt with before arriving here was not on the list of things Kurama expected to deal with tonight. Hiei being alive wasn't on that list either, but he's quick to adapt to the situation and the hissed breath prompts him to inquire about it, even as the fire apparition speaks up again.
Green eyes regard him quietly for a moment before he asks the question, knowing the best leverage he was going to have on the subject. The fire demon wasn't about to assuage his concerns for the sake of it, after all.
"Not even for Yukina's peace of mind?"
Kurama waits for a response, certain Hiei will have an argument at the ready, if he doesn't stew angrily over it first. Then he can worry about the severity of those injuries.

The fire apparition's injuries aren't all that deep or unusual - mostly left over aches and pains from his training in the Demon World. While Mukuro held no further lust for power or the throne, she did not go easy on him when he finally roused her to face off against him. Even in a friendly match, Mukuro is not one to take lightly. She is, however, a good gauge for how his training is progressing, even if he never really fully intended to win a King's Tournament.
No one wanted that - least of all Hiei. He just liked the bloodshed of it all, like most demons.
Hiei snarls at Kurama's mention of Yukina, the reaction nearly immediate.
"Do you always need to use her as leverage, Kurama?" It works, though, and Hiei knows why it keeps happening. Usually, if it involves keeping Yukina happy, Hiei will acquiesce. There is still a chance he might, depending on how she reacts to the news that he is alive or hears of the possibility of him and a way to communicate while he is away.

Most of them fought for the sake of it, the enjoyment of battle and the chance to train, strengthen their skills and test them against others. Hiei had no interest in ruling and the other three still had their lives firmly rooted in Human World. The appeal was merely in the challenge, with the stakes leaning away from the idea of a death match, nothing more than a demon equivalent of sporting events.
“No,” He answers coolly, seemingly unbothered by that immediate aggression. “However, it does seems pertinent in this case, as she must have believed whatever rumor she heard, to not only bring it to the rest of us, but allow the funeral to take place without any proof.” Hiei could be mad at everyone else all that he wanted, but she'd contributed as well and Kurama would not shy way from that reminder.
“Shall I get the first aid kit? Your injuries don't appear extensive enough to require in depth healing.” Not that he could really tell with the fire demon submerged under the water and prone to hiding the worst of it like a wounded cat, but he suspects Hiei will inform him of how much help he could be.

"I'll speak to her myself." Later, away from everyone else, when it wouldn't draw attention and ribbings from Urameshi, of course. They could sort out details between the two of them, hopefully without additional voices from other people who shouldn't have much of a say in it. Kurama, of course, would have his say at some point the fire demon is sure. It would only be fair considering he is taking up his tub and his space for a little while until he feels comfortable enough to inform the others that he is very much alive.
Fortunately or unfortunately, he guesses.
Hiei ponders quietly for a moment over the first aid kit, and decides to allow Kurama to look him over. It may soothe them both, in the end, to have this moment between them to themselves.
"Mm, fine. I don't think there's anything that won't heal overnight, at least."
no subject
He smiles faintly at that response, leaving to get the first aid kit and perhaps give Hiei a moment to himself, after driving his point home about Yukina. As needy as he liked to pretend the fox was, Kurama was probably the one best equipped to deal with the fire apparition's death, considering the number of losses he'd lived through over the centuries.
The redhead sets the first aid kit on the counter when he returns, speaking again after a moment of going through the supplies to ensure everything was present.
“Then you'll be returning in the morning?” Whether he means the Temple to discuss with Yukina, or Demon World, he doesn't bother to clarify.

There is no chance Hiei will want to go to Koenma for anything - it is far more likely that Yukina will be making the request of someone to make sure that she at the very least can stay directly connected with Hiei via a phone soon enough. Kurama would no doubt be able to have the number as well, if he were the one she chose to approach about it.
Hiei sinks further in to his steaming hot bath as Kurama leaves to get the first aid kit. The damp and chill of the rain on his skin is leaving slowly but surely, but the sore ache of over trained muscles would take a little more rest to subside. Thankfully the human world is much more peaceful than it used to be, and his visits now were typically for rest instead of business.
Kurama asks about going back, and Hiei pauses for a moment, sitting back up to allow the other a good view of any injury that may need another cautious eye.
“I was going to stay in human world for a little while.” As always he doesn’t give a time frame, though in this case it’s because he hadn’t set one for himself. And now, knowing what he knows of his rumored death, he thinks it may be good to be at least around for more than a few days. If only for Yukina’s sake.
“Now it seems like that may be more necessary than I anticipated.” For Yukina as much as Kurama, now that he looks back on it. Knowing what he knows now, the fox taking a moment to hold him closer at least fits in, even if he doesn’t quite understand how him being gone would affect Kurama (or the rest of them) in the slightest.
“Is there evidence of Urameshi embarrassing himself at least?” Hiei doesn’t want to hear the eulogy, but having something to make fun of Yusuke for suited his needs more.
no subject
Kurama turns to inspect Hiei's injuries as he speaks, remaining quiet throughout as the demon answers his question. Not bothering to conceal the small smile while his back is turned to him for the moment.
“She'll appreciate that, I'm sure.” Of course, it's for Yukina's benefit, he wouldn't imagine otherwise. Kurama hasn't so much forgotten the stolen embrace so much as it's simply not in the forefront of his thoughts, and he's certainly not factoring it into Hiei's considerations for staying around. He doesn't imagine the fire apparition is thinking about anything but Yukina- and Yusuke's humiliation, apparently.
The fox hums thoughtfully at the question, “Perhaps knowing you're not actually dead he might regret a few things, but ... at the time, no. I don't see any reason he'd be embarrassed for saying what we were all thinking.” No, he's not going to elaborate.
“Once you're dry, at least one of these is going to need to be dressed, but overall they seem to be superficial enough to heal on their own.”
no subject
At the moment, Hiei is staying equally for Yukina's sake as well as, ever so slightly, Kurama's. He hasn't yet forgotten that attempt at a hug, or at least what he thinks is a hug, nor the shocked expression on Kurama's face. Beyond that.. he needs rest. Even Hiei, now, has become a bit more aware of rest as a tactic to come back stronger, even if he may well never, ever deign to admit it. Particularly not to Yusuke and Kurama, who often prodded him to rest more and enjoy more downtime.
Still, the fire demon can't help but to be curious, observing his still somewhat dirtied hands underneath the surface of the steaming water. "And what, exactly, were you all thinking?"
Color him curious, though he does have a theory - "Don't be too disappointed I'm back."
Because of course they weren't anything stupid like sad or doing anything even worse like missing him. He wouldn't believe it even if someone said it. It strikes him by now that Kurama is usually doing something like washing his hair or making sure that under his claws is sufficiently cleaned so that he didn't stink... And then another waft of steam rises from the water between them, and Hiei grunts in understanding of an issue he hadn't even brought up. He knows by now where Kurama keeps his products, already reaching for a soap.
"Mn.. I better get started, then. If I don't do a good enough job you'll be complaining."
