Kurama is, for the most part, oblivious to Hiei's paranoid thoughts regarding his motivation. For one, he'd assumed the fire apparition understood how important they've all been to each other over the years, for another he doesn't have a full grasp on the depth of his partner's self worth issues, so unlike his own in many ways.
To him, at least, this is a non-issue. A misunderstanding that can easily be cleared up if he just focuses enough on showing Hiei how much he actually matters. Words were never the way to go with the fire demon anyway, with how quick he is to dismiss them.
The fox smiles softly at that response, leaning forward to brush a light kiss to the corner of downturned lips without a thought.
